Our Mountain Plan

Once one of the most popular ski mountains in all of Maine, Big Moose, a.k.a. Big Squaw Mountain stands as a small fraction of it‘s former glory. The Friends and Moosehead Lake Regional Economic Development have a willingness to pursue this campaign using private funds for community benefit. Once the ownership is transferred to community benefit, public funds can be eligible for capital improvements.

PHASE I Purchase the 1,700 acre ski mountain property

PHASE II Replace the summit lift & restore a base lodge

PHASE III Redevelop mountain real estate to fund future operations
